GCIO and Intel host Data Centre Summit

Oct 09 - GCIO and Intel co-hosted a summit (IT@INTEL) which was well received by a large crowd of agency staff on Thursday 24 September at the Justice and Police Museum in Circular Quay, Sydney.

The summit was aimed at IT managers, infrastructure architects and data centre strategic planners where Intel shared its best practices for data centre design, strategy, planning, grid/utility, computing and virtualization as well as to provide an update on the Government Data Centre Reform Program.

The Summit investigated how Intel has addressed its data centre requirements, as a large multi-nation organisation.  Intel experts had flown in from Singapore and other states of Australia to attend the summit.  They talked about their new state-of-the-art facilities and how they had addressed some common data centre issues.

The Summit was attended by staff from approximately 12 agencies and state owned corporations, small and large.  The audience included CIOs and data centre experts and there was an active and robust interchange of views between the audience and the presenters.
