CIO Executive Council endorses Information Management Program for NSW Government
June 09: The CIO Executive Council has endorsed the Information Management Program for NSW Government.
The Collaborative Government Services program works with NSW Government agencies to improve the way information is shared and exchanged electronically.
Stage 1 of the Information Management Program plan was endorsed at the 6 May 2009 CIO Executive Council meeting.
Outcomes from the plan include:
- development of the whole of government Information Management Strategy, and
- establishment of a "community of interest" to improve access to public sector information.
Development of the Information Management strategy (titled Information@the centre) is being directly driven by agencies. Workshops and focus groups were held throughout March, April & May 2009 to address:
- improving community access to public sector information
- maximising the potential value of NSW government information assets
- the challenges of working in a digital environment, and
- developing information management practises that are economically and environmentally sustainable.
