ICT Strategic Planning

This template aims to assist agencies in developing a cohesive plan for the use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in supporting business processes.

ICT strategic planning is concerned with planning for business systems, information management and information and communications technology. It also takes into account the wider government business environment to ensure the needs of clients and partners are met. As part of the government's strategic planning cycle, agencies are required to review their ICT strategy on an annual basis.

A new Agency ICT Strategic Plan template has been developed to assist agencies. The template is aligned with the NSW Government ICT Strategic Plan. It gives structure to agency ICT strategic planning and is intended to streamline and simplify existing processes. Supplementary documentation can be developed by agencies for their own internal use.

The template should be read in conjunction with the NSW Government ICT Strategic Plan, NSW Treasury ICT Capital Investment Process, the Total Asset Management Guidelines and Agency Results and Services Plans.

Note: the templates contain links to excel spreadsheets and are designed to be used as a package. Please follow these instructions:

  1. Download these files as a zip file zip.gif (106kb).
  2. Unzip them on your PC.
  3. Save the individual files locally.
  4. The excel spreadsheets (forms 1 & 2) are linked to the IM&T Strategic Plan Template and the Stategic Plan Progress Update Report Template. Please ensure that these links are working correctly and enable macros to allow them to function as intended.
