ITS 2007 PC and Notebook Computer Contracts

last modified 10 Oct 2007 06:40 AM

A new whole-of-government contract, ITS 2007 – Personal Computers, Notebook Computers, Servers and Associated Services has been established.

ITS 2007 is part of People First - the NSW Government’s ICT Strategic Plan which will cut red tape and deliver savings to taxpayers of $565 million over 4 years. The savings will be redirected into frontline services like hospitals, police, emergency services and community services.

ITS 2007 provides a new way of procuring computing hardware and associated services that will deliver savings to the Government and strategically support the consolidation and upgrade of ICT systems.

The new contract will deliver savings of $120 million over the four-year lifecycle of Government PCs and Notebook Computers.

For the first time the Government has gone to the market as a single buyer and we are using our purchasing power to leverage the best possible prices for all agencies.

Agencies can now purchase PC and Notebook Computers using the contact and key benefits include:

  • a single minimum technical specification, including upgrade and downgrade options was agreed upon by agency Chief Information Officers and will make selection of software easier and a Government Standard Operating Environment more achievable
  • all agencies will have access to a common price for government purchases - vendors have supplied fixed prices and can only alter them downwards
  • environmentally sensitive disposal of replaced machines which includes a supplier ‘takeback’ scheme
  • reduction in red tape and tendering costs to agencies with the elimination of the need for agencies to request quotes from or negotiate directly with individual suppliers
  • listing of all services and costs associated with the total lifecycle of each machine.
