About GCIO

The Government Chief Information Office (GCIO) works to ensure that the NSW Government’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) strategies and associated programs meet the needs of the people of New South Wales.

GCIO provides the NSW Government with sector-wide leadership and advice on ICT procurement, e-government and other ICT initiatives.

It does this with the support of the CIO Executive Council .

In July 2006 the CIO Executive Council and the GCIO developed People First - the NSW Government ICT Strategy, a smart efficient whole of government approach to information and communications technology.
