Channel NSW
Channel NSW is a pilot Digital TV channel broadcasting government and public information.
Channel NSW is a free service on air now in the Sydney metropolitan area on Digital TV Channel forty-five (45).
What is Digital TV?
Digital things are now everywhere in the home and are steadily replacing their analogue cousins for communication, music and video. Digital TV is phasing out analogue television. Through using familiar digital devices such as DVD players, many of us already understand the benefits of Digital TV which include sharper pictures, clearer sound and widescreen. Digital TV also offers extra channels.
What's on Digital TV?
Each of Australia's commercial TV networks, the ABC and SBS now broadcast regular services on Digital TV. Additional channels on digital include a new on-air free-to-view program guide (Channel 4); ABC's new second channel: ABC2 (Channel 21) plus a number of new pilot services including Channel NSW (Channel 45) and Macquarie Digital (Channel 47).
How do I get Digital TV?
Anyone can receive the free-to-air digital television (DTV) with a set-top box that plugs into your existing TV and your existing TV Aerial. These are now widely available through retailers around Australia. Models now start from less than $100. Alternatively, you can also by a TV tuner card for your PC to watch DTV on your computer. You can also now buy televisions that have Digital TV reception built-in.
